4 Slice Toasters
The Only Way To Go
4 slice toasters are the only way to go, whether you are thinking of getting one of these for yourself, or as a gift. I wouldn't have any other type for my waffles, or bagels. They can make a great house warming or wedding gift. They may be a bit pricier than the two slicers, but if you have one that suits your needs, it is well worth it.
Benefits:
Listed below are a few of the benefits to consider while you are shopping for 4 slice toasters.
* Great as a house warming or wedding gift.
* Makes breakfast quick and easy, when you are in a rush.
* Helps you to start your day with a healthier breakfast.
* Newer technology makes it easier, and even fun.
* Handy to have for large families or overnight guests.
Yes, 4 slice toasters will do exactly as you would expect - toast bread. However, nowadays they do more than that. Today they have slots that are thick enough for toasting bagels, English muffins, or even croissants. They are also great for larger families, or for those overnight guests. Even if you only have two people in your home, you may want to make a toasted sandwich for each of you, and that requires four slices of bread. And if you notice, they even have types that will cook your eggs! How cool is that?

Functions and Features:
While searching for 4 slice toasters, look for a removable crumb tray, a hide away cord area, one that has a cool touch to the exterior, and a warranty. At least a one year warranty is recommended. Some of the best 4 slice toasters will give you up to a 5 year warranty.
Maybe a manual dial type is what you would prefer, or perhaps the type with digital controls. Either way, the user friendly controls can make any breakfast more enjoyable. Look for control features that are located on the face of the appliance. Also, if you like bagels, look for a bagel setting, and don't forget a cancel button that will enable you to end the cycle immediately.
Be Healthy - Don't Skip Breakfast
Starting your day off right by having breakfast is essential for a productive day. 4 slice toasters can help you to do just that. Too many of us do not eat properly in the morning before leaving home. Some of us even skip breakfast altogether. Stay healthier by making sure you prepare something to eat for breakfast, even if you are in a rush.
Overall, I'd always recommend a 4 slice toaster over a 2 slicer - Any day.
History of The Toaster
In The Beginning...
Ever wonder about the history of your toaster? Who are it's ancestors? When was it born? What was the first toaster like? Did every household have one?
Before 4 slice toasters, or even electric ones for that matter, came along, bread was toasted by putting it on a metal frame or a long handled fork and holding it over a fire. We sure have come a long way since then.
Alan MacMasters of Edinburgh, Scotland created the first electric toaster in 1893.
The GE model D-12 was designed by Frank Shailor. It was "the first commercially successful electric toaster." That was General Electric's first submitted patent application in 1909.
Later came the "semi-automatic". It would automatically turn off the heating element, by using a bimetallic strip or a clockwork mechanism.
In 1919 Charles Strite of Minnesota patented the first automatic pop-up model, that would eject the toast when it was done.
In the middle of the 20th century came Sunbeam T-20, T-35 and T-50 models, all of which featured an automatic bread lowering and raising. It had no levers to operate it. You would drop the slice into the machine, and the toasting would begin.
Automatic electric toasters were considered to be a luxury item, with prices of some models about $25 in 1939, and about $360 in the year 2006. Some of the best built were during the late 1930's to 1960. Because of their popular designs, some classics from the 40's and 50's have been brought back into the market. But most of them are not constructed with the same high standard.
By the 1080's the 4 slice toasters or 6 slicers were made more affordable for families.
Invented by Simon Hackett and John Romkey was "The Internet Toaster", in 1990. You could control it from the Internet.
Today, technology has brought about newer additions like wider slots for bagels, the ability to toast frozen items, 4 slice toasters, and even 6 slicers. They now come in so many colors. You can choose a sleek black, clean white, shiny chrome, or a retro red! You also have choices of a "cool touch", "extra wide", "brushed", and more. And, they now even have them cooking eggs for you!
